Events

Here we are at the start of another busy year for Centre Stage.

We commenced our 10th Anniversary year on 13th September with a party for all Saturday and Sunday students. Everyone had a great evening, without the parents for once.

Rehearsals are now underway for the musical 'Honk!', which will be performed during the February Half Term at The Wyllyotts Theatre, Potters Bar.

Our Upstaged production of 'The Penelopiad' is also into rehearsals and will be performed from 31st March to 4th April at The Courtyard Theatre and then go on to the Edinburgh Festival in August.

The Upper School Festival of Plays are currently in rehearsals.  Performance dates to be confirmed.

The next Centre Stage Cabaret Evening will be held on 15th November.  Many of young soloists and dancers are given to opportunity to perform at our Cabaret Evenings, which always prove very successful and enjoyable.

Our 10th Anniversary shows will be held on Sunday 21st June at The Pentland Theatre, Arts Depot, Finchley.

Our Potters Bar group will be performing 'Skool Dayz' on 17th May at North Mymms Memorial Hall

Carrie & David Grant ran an amazing, four hour, Vocal Masterclass on Saturday 4th October. Over 100 pre-senior and senior students were treated to a very enjoyable, inspirational and informative workshop.

David and Carrie are also arranging a number of future Masterclasses with industry professionals for the forthcoming year.

Here's a look back at 2007 / 2008...

Following the success of our Monologue/Duologue Showcase Evening at the Gatehouse Theatre in Highgate, we were delighted to repeat the experience in November 07 at the Gladys Aylward Theatre. The evening featured our Pre-Senior and Senior Students performing mon, duo and triologues to very appreciative audiences.

We also decided to showcase our Junior and Intermediate Children in December. Over 120 children recited poetry or monologues and our Sunday students also allperformed a solo song. It was wonderful to see the confidence and talent in this age-group.

The Upper School Musical Showcase, based on 'A Chorus Line' was held in January at The Gladys Aylward Theatre.

And our spring and summer cabarets were great successes. These popular evenings are a great opportunity for soloists, dancers and our dance troupe to perform in a relaxed and social environment.

The Love of the Nightingale at the Theatro Technis was awesome, winning critical acclaim and high regard from its author Timberlake Wertenbaker who came to see the production and rated it very highly.

Fame the Musical at the Intimate Theatre was another excellent show, again bringing high standards of performance and integrity to this popular musical theatre classic.

Our Dance troupe took part in The Young Performers show at The Shaftesbury Theatre on 8th June and again showed their great talent and professionalism.

The festival of plays was a huge success, with three marvelous productions of plays allowing our young actors to stretch and advance their skills as performers.

Centre Stage the Musical was an epic weekend of theatre in which every child had a featured part as a student in a full time 'centre stage' set some years in the future. Well done to all.

And finally the Oscars was a brilliant night - probably the smoothest on record - and full of the feel-good factor we have all come to love from this popular annual event.
