Drama
Drama at Centre Stage is proudly taught in a refreshing and individual way. The aim of the teaching staff is to develop the students confidence and awareness of drama in the formative years and push the boundaries of performance in the older students. The drama staff aims to offer the students an open environment in which to express themselves freely and without inhibition. Whether this is in the form of script work with the younger students or challenging improvisation, the aim remains the same. As the students progress through the age structure, we open their often-blinkered eyes to the many forms of theatrical as well as recorded performance. Pre-Senior and Senior Students will be asked to challenge their concept of performance by studying varying performing styles. From Performance Art to the Theatre of the Absurd, from Clown to Commedia Del Arte, Ibsen to Marlowe and the Avant Garde and unusual performance styles of The Wooster Group and Robert Wilson. This training, combined with Camera and Radio work, offers the Centre Stage student a truly unique experience and the school prides itself on this selling point.
