YCS Classes
4-7 year olds

Class Info

This is a very friendly group for children aged between 4 and 7 years. (School years: Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2)

Young Centre Stagers will be inspired through Drama, Dance, Singing and Creative Play. Lessons are designed to stimulate imagination, increase concentration, develop social skills and build confidence by using movement, song, improvisation and imagination based games.

Drama and performance are explored in an innovative and inspirational way in this fun class for young children. Young Centre Stagers endeavours to enrich children's talents and their working together through a diverse array of theatrical disciplines and techniques.

Young Centre Stagers are also given their very own performance opportunities on the big stage - in fully costumed, sound and lighting equipped productions, at least once a year.

Terms and Conditions

Centre Stage students are required to show respect and consideration to their tutors and each other. It is an integral part of the school ethos to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy. Any disruptive or intolerant behaviour will be reported to parents in the first instance. We are a fair and tolerant school and will work with parents to resolve any underlying issues, however, persistent bad behaviour or behaviour that we feel is detrimental to the school, our staff or other students will result in that student being asked to leave classes. In the event of a student being asked to leave the school for unacceptable behaviour, there will be no refund of fees.

There is a compulsory uniform of school T-shirt and hooded sweat-shirt for YCS students. Uniform must be worn at all classes, with black dance trousers or black track suit bottoms. Required footwear is either black jazz shoes, black plimsolls or comfortable trainers. Jazz shoes can be purchased through the school at a reduced cost or from local dance wear shops. Please make sure that all uniform and shoes are clearly marked with your child’s name, otherwise mislaid items of clothing cannot be identified.

We ask that students do not bring cash or valuables to classes, as Centre Stage cannot be held responsible for the loss of any personal items or possessions. Jewellery should not be worn. Stud earrings are acceptable.

For all students: Hair should be neat and tidy. Long hair tied back and away from the face.

Students have a very short break during classes. Please provide only water to drink and currently there is to be no food or snacks brought to classes (unless for health reasons and accompanied by a written request from a parent).

All YCS students are required to stay on school premises until the end of classes.

YCS students must be collected from their last lesson by a parent or older sibling. Please advise us in advance, preferably by email or text, if you have asked any other adult to collect your child. No student from this age group is allowed to leave on their own or meet a parent outside.

To comply with Health & Safety regulations, any student who needs to leave classes early, MUST inform their tutor or a member of staff on the day so that they can be marked off the register, (even if prior notice has been given to the office). This applies to all age groups.

Please ensure we are kept up to date with contact details for all parents and guardians. In the event of a student becoming ill or needing medical attention we will contact parents or emergency contact numbers. We assure all parents and guardians that your personal details will not be passed on to any third party, in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998. If we are unable to contact an appropriate adult, we will act as loco parentis and seek medical attention as we judge appropriate. Please make sure we are kept up to date with any necessary medical information.

Fees are payable in advance on or before the first day of each term. We regret that we are unable to accept weekly payments for classes. Terms and half term weeks are based on the London Borough of Enfield school dates.

Where a parent has two children at the school, we are happy to accept payment for the second child by cheque, post - dated for the half term. A third son or daughter at the school is free of charge. The free place is offered to brothers and sisters only and cannot be extended to other relatives or friends. Fees cannot be refunded for non - attendance at classes.

We require a photograph of each student for our files. If you are unable to provide a passport size photograph with your health form, we will take a head shot when your child starts classes. These headshots are for our records only. From time to time we will also take photographs or video footage during classes/rehearsals/ shows etc., which may be used on our website or for other advertising material. Please advise the office, in writing, if you have any objection to images of your son/daughter being used for this purpose.

We hope your son or daughter will remain with us for many years, as most of our students do, but when the time does come to say goodbye we require a minimum of four weeks written notice from a parent/guardian. This notice must be given prior to the end of term to enable us to offer the place elsewhere.

In the event of a student not returning to a new term, without giving the appropriate written notice, an invoice will be issued for four weeks class fees, in lieu of notice.

A health form is sent before trial class. The form will be sent electronically and should be completed before the trial class. If you are unable to fill out the form electronically we will ask you to fill it in on an electronic device when you arrive. You will need to inform us if there are any changes in personal or contact details.

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to advise the school of any health problems or behavioural issues, and to keep us updated of any changes.

All health, educational and personal information is treated with the strictest confidence.

Your son or daughter will find a warm welcome at Centre Stage, and we sincerely hope that their time with us will build confidence and give them many happy memories.

The General Data Protection Regulation, known as GDPR, comes into effect on 25th May 2018 and is a really positive step towards you having more control over how your data is used and how you are contacted.
In order to comply with this new legislation we have updated our privacy policy which can be found by clicking here.
